Led Workshop at the American University of Kurdistan
On November 13, 2025, Sarhang Hamasaeed led a workshop on building careers in peacebuilding and development in a changing world at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok, Iraq. Hosted by AUK's Center for Peace and Human Security in collaboration with the International Studies Department in the College of Arts & Sciences, the session was highly interactive. Using case studies drawn from the work of the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) on conflicts and dialogues in Iraq and elsewhere, students took part in scenario-based exercises, group discussions, and Q&A to identify their skills, map pathways into the field, and reflect on the values that guide a meaningful career, at a time of rapid advances in AI and shrinking funding for peacebuilding.
