PEACE TALKS: HOW WE BUILD PEACE

“How We Build Peace” - Peace Talk by Sarhang Hamasaeed, former Director of Middle East Programs, U.S. Institute of Peace at the Passing the Baton event in January 2017. Peace Talks are like "TED Talks" for peacebuilders - short, snappy speeches that offer practical ideas and new insights on how to build peace. The Peace Talk is about conflict and peacebuilding from the bottom-up based on his experience growing up amid violent conflict in Iraq. As the United States prepared to inaugurate its 45th president, the U.S. Institute of Peace again held its Passing the Baton conference—a review, during the transition between administrations, of global challenges confronting the United States. USIP convened Cabinet-level and other senior foreign policy and national security figures from the outgoing and incoming administrations as part of two days of meetings January 9 and 10. They were joined by top officials from previous administrations, thought leaders and other foreign policy experts.
